The No. 34 Walkenhorst Motorsport Aston Martin Vantage GT3 Evo has been withdrawn from the CrowdStrike 24 Hours of Spa after Henrique Chaves’ crash in Superpole.
Chaves had a significant impact with the tire barriers on the exit of Fagnes after losing control of the car during his second flying lap, which caused the session to be red-flagged.
An Aston Martin spokesperson confirmed in the wake of the crash that the “damage sustained was too significant to be repaired in time for the car to contest the 24H Spa.”
It was further confirmed that Chaves was not injured in the accident.
The withdrawal brings the field for the 78th running of the Ardennes endurance classic down to 74 cars.
Walkenhorst, meanwhile, has one further car entered in the event: its No. 35 car, which runs in Silver Cup and will be driven by Romain Leroux, Mateo Villagomez and Oliver Soederstroem.
