Magnus Racing has confirmed that Jan Heylen will complete its lineup in next month’s IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship season-ending Motul Petit Le Mans.

The John Potter-owned team, which will not be on the grid for this weekend’s Battle on the Bricks at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, will shift focus to the ten-hour season finale at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta with its GTD class Aston Martin Vantage GT3 Evo.

Porsche veteran Heylen will be joined by Potter and Spencer Pumpelly, who both contested this year’s season-opening Rolex 24 at Daytona as well as the Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen.

“It’s great to return to competition during our limited season,” said Potter. “Petit Le Mans is something well engrained in the roots of our team, going back to our origins, and we’re excited to push for another result.

“Adding Jan Heylen to the team should be a great addition, he’s someone we’ve competed against for many years and it will be nice to finally have him under our tent.”

Heylen takes the seat that was occupied by Aston Martin factory driver Marco Sorensen at Watkins Glen International.

“I’m really looking forward to joining everyone at Magnus Racing and Aston Martin,” said Heylen.

“I’ve raced against the team for many years, so it will be nice to finally join the group and help them achieve the ultimate goal at Petit. The Aston Martin is a very different car from what I’ve been competing with over the last several years, but it’s always been a strong car and one I look forward to getting more time with.”
