Action Express Racing has been stripped of its pole position for this weekend’s Rolex 24 at Daytona after failing post-qualifying tech inspection.

The No. 31 Whelen Engineering-backed Cadillac V-Series.R in which Jack Aitken topped qualifying on Thursday will now start 11th and last in the GTP class for the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship season opener.

Per a statement issued by IMSA, the No. 31 car failed tech as “the car’s friction area of the rear skid block was beyond the permitted tolerance.”

It means the No. 93 Acura Meyer Shank Racing ARX-06 that Renger van der Zande had qualified second will start Saturday’s race from pole, while the No. 40 Wayne Taylor Racing Cadillac is promoted to a spot on the front row.

The Action Express Cadillac wasn’t the only car to fail tech, as the second-placed car in GTD Pro, the No. 1 Paul Miller Racing BMW M4 GT3 EVO was also moved to the rear in its class after being “found to have camber in excess of the permitted limit.”

Neil Verhagen had originally qualified the Paul Miller BMW second only to the No. 3 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 GT3.R of Alexander Sims.

Instead, Sims will now be joined on the front row by the Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing McLaren 720S GT3 Evo that Dean MacDonald had initially qualified third.
