Tyler Maxson doubled up with a sweep of the Porsche Carrera Cup North America weekend at Sebring International Raceway.
The Topp Racing driver took a flag-to-flag victory in Friday evening’s 40-minute contest, holding off the No. 24 Kellymoss Porsche 911 Cup of Aaron Jeansonne by 0.674 seconds at the finish.
It marked Maxson’s first weekend sweep in Porsche’s single-make series.
JDX Racing driver Callum Hedge claimed his first-ever podium finish in only his second Carrera Cup North America start.
It came after Jared Thomas was forced to pit on Lap 4 with a suspected puncture, dropping the JTR Motorsports Engineering owner/driver out of contention.
Fellow Carrera Cup North America rookie Cole Kleck pressured Hedge in the final 15 minutes of the race but the Topp driver was forced to settle for fourth.
An incident involving Hedge and Kleck was under review as the checkered flag came out although race control declared the evidence inconclusive, which confirmed Hedge’s podium.
Paul Bocuse completed the top-five in his No. 71 Kellymoss Porsche, with JDX teammates Sabre Cook and Connor Bloum sixth and seventh, respectively.
Pro-Am class honors again went to the No. 54 ACI entry of Patrick Mulcahy, while teammate Marco Cirone also swept the weekend with another class victory in Masters.
However, it was Cirone who finished higher than Mulcahy in the overall ranking, with Cirone classified 12th overall and Mulcahy 13th.
RESULTS: Race 2
