Motopark to Run SRO Academy 24H Spa Mercedes-AMG

Motopark has been selected to field a Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo in next year’s CrowdStrike 24 Hours of Spa for a lineup comprising SRO GT Academy graduates.

SRO Motorsports Group revealed in November last year that a quartet of drivers from its international series would be selected for a fully-funded 24H Spa outing in 2027 with one driver being chosen from each of the GT World Challenge America powered by AWS, GTWC Asia and GTWC Australia championships as well as a British GT representative.

It has now been confirmed that single-seater stalwart Motopark will run the car for these drivers, the team having made its debut in the 24H Spa this year.

The squad first moved into the world of sports car racing in 2023 and achieved its first major endurance victory in last year’s Gulf 12 Hours.

Motopark also enjoyed International GT Open success last season, winning the teams’ title and powering Levente Revesz to the drivers’ crown.

“We are honored to be chosen by SRO to be part of this unique project,” said Motopark team principal Timo Rumpfkeil.

“I trust that, with our experience of promoting young talent, we can add a lot of value.

“Together with SRO we are creating a comprehensive program to ensure that the SRO GT Academy graduates will receive the maximum support possible.”

SRO boss Stephane Ratel added: “As an experienced professional outfit with a growing reputation in GT racing, Team Motopark was the ideal candidate to field our SRO GT Academy entry at next year’s 24 Hours of Spa.

“Their record of working with young talents is truly exceptional and I am certain they will provide our winning drivers with an opportunity to shine.”

While the four championships being represented by the drivers in the Motopark-run Mercedes-AMG have yet to conclude their seasons, currently on course for the Spa seats are Tom Sargent, Yu Kuai, Oscar Targett and Jarrod Waberski.

The SRO Academy prize is open to FIA Silver-rated drivers who are aged under 30.
