Scott Dollahite to Return to Wheel of Mustang GT3 at Indy

Scott Dollahite will make his return to the wheel of a Ford Mustang GT3 in next month’s GT World Challenge America powered by AWS and Intercontinental GT Challenge season-ending Desder Indianapolis 8 Hour, in a revised Pro-Am class lineup for Dollahite Racing.

The FIA Bronze-rated driver will team up with Alex Sedgwick and a to-be-announced Ford Racing factory driver for the race.

It will mark Dollahite’s first outing in GTWC America since last year’s season finale, having initially stepped aside to help manage the team’s step up to the Pro class with Sedgwick and Cameron Lawrence.

The Texas-based team is skipping this weekend’s penultimate round of the season at Barber Motorsports Park.

“Due to a couple of unforeseen events, we are no longer in contention for the Pro championship, even if we were to win every remaining race,” said team owner Bill Dollahite.

“Despite these setbacks, the team has demonstrated remarkable speed, with the Mustang GT3 leading the last three events prior to early retirements.”

Bill Dollahite believes a pivot to Pro-Am gives the team its best chance of an overall win, despite the rules requiring a Bronze driver in its lineup.

“I talked to Ford and SRO about putting together a dream team lineup for Indy, and this trio gives us a serious bid for the overall win,” he said.

Scott Dollahite added: “I’m excited to get back behind the wheel. Teamed with Alex and a Platinum driver, we should be able to maximize the full potential of the powerful Mustang GT3.”

It will mark the only Mustang GT3 EVO in the race, and thus the lone entry that can score manufacturer points for Ford in the globe-trotting GT3 series.

The American manufacturer previously committed to having a Pro car in every IGTC race this year.

“Our ultimate goal has always been a world championship,” said Bill Dollahite. “This race is an important step on that roadmap as we introduce ourselves to the highly competitive international arena.”
