TechSport’s Kohlbecker Claims Pole for Race 1 at Barber

Spike Kohlbecker put himself in the best position to extend his points lead in Toyota GR Cup North America competition after taking pole for Race 1 of the weekend at Barber Motorsports Park.

The TechSport Racing driver, who entered the penultimate event of the season with a 13-point lead over Jeremy Fletcher, reeled off a 1:37.081 to outpace teammate Parker DeLong by 0.548 seconds.

Title rival Fletcher, meanwhile, qualified third in his Copeland Motorsports Toyota GR 86 Cup car, while Friday’s pacesetter, Will Robusto, and Ethan Goulart completed the top-five.

The top 11 cars were separated by one-second in qualifying, but crucially positions two through 11 were within a half-second.
