Porsches Handed Weight Increase Ahead of Barber Race

The Porsche 911 GT3 R Evo has been handed a 20 kg increase in minimum weight following qualifying for this afternoon’s GT World Challenge America powered by AWS race at Barber Motorsports Park.

It was the only Balance of Performance adjustment that was confirmed in an updated table released this morning by SRO Motorsports Group.

While the top-placed Porsche in combined qualifying was the Pro-Am class pole-sitting No. 28 RS1 example in fourth overall, the Type 992.2 model had topped every practice session of the weekend in the hands of GMG Racing’s Tom Sargent.

Sargent, who set the outright fastest single lap in qualifying, a 1:20.024, compared to the overall pole-sitter’s combined 1:20.868, however, will start the race 12th when his time was averaged with co-driver Kyle Washington.

The three-hour feature race gets underway at 12:30 p.m CST with live coverage on SRO’s GT World YouTube channel.
