LMP3 stand-out star Louis Iglesias and FIA World Endurance Championship LMGT3 racer Hadrien David are among the drivers due to sample LMP2 machinery during the European Le Mans Series’ rookie test at Portimao on Sunday.

Frenchman Iglesias has been a revelation since joining the lineup of the CLX Motorsport Ligier JS P325 Toyota part-way through this season, taking three poles and helping launch the car into a strong position at the head of the championship standings.

He has also been a race winner in the Michelin Le Mans Cup this year, but will now sample an Oreca 07 Gibson LMP2 machine with the CLX squad on Sunday as the full list of drivers in action has been announced.

Other ELMS LMP3 frontrunners to step up for a trial outing include Hugo Schwarze (with the R-ace GP-operated Duqueine Team that he also races for in LMP3), Matteo Quintarelli — with IDEC Sport — and Henry Cubides Olarte for CLX.

Michelin Le Mans Cup champion Danial Frost is another due to complete laps of the Portuguese track with IDEC.

Lexus RC F GT3 pilot David, meanwhile, is one of the GT racing regulars getting the chance to drive prototype machinery.

David — who has been linked with a future at the Toyota Hypercar squad — will team up with fellow Akkodis ASP Lexus racer and Toyota reserve Esteban Masson in the Forestier Racing by Panis Oreca.

AF Corse Ferrari 296 GT3 Evo driver Conrad Laursen will also get a run in an LMP2 car as he is due to drive for TDS Racing alongside IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship contender Filipe Albuquerque — who has regularly raced LMP2 machinery in recent seasons around his GTP commitments.

Only six LMGT3 cars are set to be part of the ELMS rookie test, with the entire No. 74 Kessel Racing Ferrari lineup of Andrew Gilbert, Fran Rueda and Romain Leroux instead due to be piloting a TF Sport Chevrolet Corvette Z06 GT3.R.
