Scott Taylor Motorsport’s Mercedes-AMG has become the first officially confirmed entry for the 2027 Meguiar’s Bathurst 12 Hour and will tackle next year’s Intercontinental GT Challenge season opener with an unchanged driver lineup.
Cameron Waters, Thomas Randle and Chaz Mostert will combine again to form an enviable driver roster to spearhead STM’s pursuit of outright success against an expected increased level of international competition in February.
The team’s 2026 attack was highlighted by Waters securing the Allan Simonsen Pole Position Trophy after a stunning shootout lap on Saturday.
The race provided a mix of emotions but ultimately ended with a damaged car after a final-hour collision between Mostert and Jayden Ojeda’s Tigani Motorsport Mercedes-AMG, and STM is already preparing to achieve redemption.
Ashley Seward Motorsport is currently preparing the team’s Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo in its Melbourne-based workshop, ahead of a multi-day, multi-circuit testing schedule.
Storied team manager Barry Ryan will also return to lead the program, bringing nearly 30 years of enviable experience within the Australian motorsport industry to the squad.
STM will use the same Mercedes-AMG chassis its has raced over the past few years in what will be its ninth attempt at Bathurst 12H glory.
While the nucleus of the outfit remains unchanged, the team’s entry will be visibly different in 2027, thanks to an increase in commercial partners joining the effort. Details of those backers will be announced in due course.
“It’s one of our biggest events on the Australian sports calendar, and it only gets bigger and better every year,” said team owner Scott Taylor.
“All the internationals come down to the best racing circuit in the world for our once around the clock enduro.
“We’re the all-Australian team and we’re coming back for another attack, and you guessed it, it’s the same team as last year – Cameron Waters, Chaz Mostert and Thomas Randle, plus Barry Ryan overseeing the operation.
“We’ve got the capability to win. We should have won last year, so in 2027, we’re definitely returning to give it a nudge.
“I was thinking about what we could do differently to win in 2026, and I don’t think we need to do anything different – we had a winning combination.
“So, we’ve got the drivers, we’ve the car and we’ve got the team to be able to do it.
“I really want to thank the drivers for coming back to us, as well as the teams that they all work for in Tickford, Walkinshaw and Erebus to get them released for the event.
“We also thank Ford America and Toyota Australia because they give us their blessings to add Cam, Chaz and Thomas to our driving lineup.”
While being the first official entry, IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship squad 13 Autosport has already also committed to the Feb. 11-14 event at Mount Panorama.
