Porsche squad Tsunami RT has confirmed its return to the Meguiar’s Bathurst 12 Hour in 2027, marking the team’s second appearance at the iconic Australian endurance race.

The announcement follows the team’s debut at Mount Panorama this year, an edition that ended prematurely following a major incident at the top of the Mountain involving Johannes Zelger and the Craft-Bamboo Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo of Ralf Aron.

Tsunami RT was among a host of first-time entries for this year’s Intercontinental GT Challenge opener and became an immediate fan favorite thanks to their bright, multi-colored livery that adorns its No. 79 Porsche 911 GT3 R Evo.

It has become the second team to officially lodge its entry for the 2027 edition on Feb. 11-14 after Scott Taylor Motorsport became the first confirmed entry this month.

Despite the difficult circumstances surrounding its first appearance, Bathurst left a strong impression on Tsunami RT.

The team says the challenge of Mount Panorama, combined with the enthusiasm of the Australian fans and the unique atmosphere surrounding the event, has made the prospect of returning an important motivation.

More information regarding its 2027 campaign, including its driver roster, will be confirmed closer to the event, although team principal Valerio M. Speziali suggested that FIA Bronze-rated Zelger is again set to be part of the lineup.

“Our debut at the Bathurst 12 Hour marked the beginning of a new challenge in our endurance journey and the realization of a dream,” commented Speziali.

“Unfortunately, our first experience did not end as we had hoped following the incident. With both drivers [Zelger and Aron] doing well, we are looking forward to returning to Bathurst and getting back to what we love most: racing.

“After completing our first season in the Intercontinental GT Challenge, I am happy to be returning to Bathurst with our No. 79 car.

“Mount Panorama will undoubtedly be one of our first major challenges of the 2027 season. We are ready to take it on, and preparations are already well underway as we work hard to deliver a stronger performance and, of course, improve on last year’s result.

“Mount Panorama is a legendary circuit and I am genuinely happy to bring the team back here, also thanks to Johannes Zelger. We know how demanding this challenge is: every lap requires the utmost concentration and respect for the circuit.

“As I said last year, we’re ready to make our first mark Down Under — now our second, but hopefully not our last!”
