Jota Sport dominated the opening practice session of the European Le Mans Series season at Silverstone this morning.
The No. 38 Gibson 015S Nissan, driven by Simon Dolan, Filipe Albuquerque and Harry Tincknell, was in a league of its own as the new season got underway in the UK.
Harry Tincknell’s lap time of 1:49.826 was more than one-second quicker than the No. 41 Greaves Motorsport Gibson 015S Nissan.
The two AF Corse-entered Oreca 03 Nissans were third and fourth, with the No. 48 Murphy Prototypes Oreca 03R Nissan completing the top five.
AF Corse led GTE, with the No. 81 Ferrari 458 Italia of Stephen Wyatt, Michele Rugolo and Rui Aguas lapping the circuit in 2:02.428, BMW Team Marc VDS, debuting the BMW Z4 GTE in the series, was third fastest.
The No. 59 TDS Racing BMW Z4 GT3 of Franck Perera, Dino Lunardi and Eric Dermont set the fastest lap in GTC. It finished as the fourth fastest GT car, only two-tenths behind the Marc VDS BMW.
In LMP3 it was the No. 7 University of Bolton Ginetta that was quickest. The LMP3 cars, some of them on their first ever laps, were lapping at GTC pace.
There was a full course yellow period in the final minutes of the session, as the No. 45 Ibanez Racing Oreca had stopped on the track.
The second practice session will begin at 2.10 pm local time.
