Porsche Opens Application Process for Junior Drivers

Want to be the next Nick Tandy or Earl Bamber? Porsche is now offering the unique chance for young drivers to apply for consideration to be part of its highly successful Junior program.

Drivers, born between Jan. 1, 1994 and Feb. 28, 1998 have until Aug. 1 to apply at porsche.com/juniorprogramme to be in the running for potential race seats in the 2016 season.

Candidates must have touring car and/or single-seater experience but have not previously competed full-time in Porsche Carrera Cup, Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge or any higher level GT series.

Porsche will be selecting drivers through a two-stage process which includes fitness and endurance tests, as well as an on-track test in a Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car.

The chosen Porsche Juniors will be placed in Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland next year with 150,000 Euros of funding.

Some of the world’s best sports car racing drivers have gone through Porsche’s development program since its launch in 1997, including Timo Bernhard, Marc Lieb, Patrick Long, as well as Bamber, who claimed overall victory in last weekend’s 24 Hours of Le Mans.

Connor de Phillippi, Sven Mueller and Matteo Cairoli are currently taking part in the Porsche Junior program this year.
