AF Corse continues to set the pace at Spa-Francorchamps, with Gianmaria Bruni setting the fastest time in the Total 24 Hours of Spa Pre Qualifying session.
Gianmaria Bruni posted the quickest time of 2:18.986 on the third lap of the session for the No. 47 Pro AM Cup-entered Ferrari 458 Italia GT3.
A late fast lap by Audi Sport Team WRT driver Laurens Vanthoor meant the No. 1 Audi R8 LMS finished the session in second place, 0.542s slower than the Ferrari.
Minutes from the end of the session the Belgian Audi driver was shown having set the fastest time, but within seconds his time was removed again.
The No. 9 ROAL Motorsport BMW Z4 GT3 was the fastest of the BMW entries, 0.727s behind the AF Corse Ferrari, with the No. 79 Ecurie Ecosse BMW Z4 GT3 taking fourth place, just 0.009s behind the ROAL car.
The No. 46 BMW Sports Trophy Team Marc VDS BMW Z4 GT3 and No. 6 Audi Sport Team Phoenix Audi R8 LMS rounded out the top six after one hour.
MRS GT Racing’s No. 73 Nissan GT-R NISMO GT3 went off at Stavelot, clipping the barrier, but it was the No. 19 GRT Grasser Racing Team Lamborghini Huracan GT3 that got off worse.
At the Raidillon Fabio Babini crashed his car, causing substantial damage to the No. 19. The American managed to drive off, only to park his damaged car a couple of corners further down the road.
Like in Free Practice several drivers were warned and subsequently penalized for not respecting the track limits, as warned by race control.
