Larbre Confirms Carrera Cup Program

Larbre Competition has confirmed it will race in the Porsche Carrera Cup France with a two-car effort. Gaël Castelli will join up as lead driver with the second driver to be confirmed at a later date.

Team manager Jack Leconte has history with the series, having competed for seven years as a driver and also running cars for eventual series champions Dominique Dupuy, Jean-Pierre Jarier, Christophe Bouchut and Sebastien Dumez.

“The exceptional quality of Porsche competition cars provides great motivation for my technical team,” Leconte said. “We have contested 17 seasons in the Carrera Cup with a host of different models, from the 944 through to the 997, and when I saw the new 991 I could tell it was an exceptional machine.

“So the decision has been made. Larbre Competition will return to the Carrera Cup and race the way we believe is correct: without Balance of Performance!”

Larbre, which has run in the GTE Am class of the FIA World Endurance Championship the last two seasons with year-old Corvette C6.Rs, has not made any official remarks about its participation in the 2014 FIA WEC. Entries for the full-season championship and the 24 Hours of Le Mans will be revealed later this week.
