Erdos to Sub for Ordonez at Le Mans Test Day

Sports car racing veteran Tommy Erdos will get a chance to drive the Nissan ZEOD RC at Le Mans in June, having been named as a substitute driver for Lucas Ordonez at the official test day.

The Brazilian driver will take the place of the inaugural Nissan GT Academy winner on the one-day test on June 1 due to his previous full-season commitments in Super GT that weekend.

“Tommy obviously has a tremendous record at Le Mans and being from Brazil adds additional international flavor to our lineup,” said Darren Cox, Nissan Global Head of Brand, Marketing & Sales, NISMO.

“We will be announcing our third race driver for Le Mans soon, but getting somebody with Le Mans experience to help develop the car at the test day was challenging the way the calendar fell with a clashing Super GT event that same weekend.

“Tommy is a very safe pair of hands and a two-time Le Mans class winner, having him available to help out is a real bonus for the Nissan ZEOD RC program.”

Ordonez and Wolfgang Reip are the two confirmed drivers thus far in the ZEOD RC race program, which will compete as the Garage 56 entry in the twice-around-the-clock endurance classic on June 14-15.
