DXDT Racing has announced that racing driver and coach Aaron Povoledo will partner with team principal David Askew in co-driving the team’s new Mercedes-AMG GT3 in the Pirelli World Challenge SprintX races and serve as the new driver development program director for DXDT.
Povoledo is a proven winner from Formula cars in Canada and the UK to touring and GT cars in the U.S.
He has notched up multiple pole positions and victories across a variety of series including IMSA Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge, Pirelli World Challenge and Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo North America.
In addition to his abilities as a driver, Povoledo is regarded as one of the top driver coaches in America.
“Aaron brings a new level of commitment and performance to assist David Askew and also to help drive the DXDT Racing program forward into 2017,” said DXDT managing and technical director Erik Petersen.
“Partnering Aaron with David is just the first step in the growth of DXDT Racing and our new Driver Development Program.
“He is a tremendous talent to add to our growing family and will play a significant role in our success on track and behind the scenes.”
Povoledo said his previous experience with the team has helped him ease into the new role.
“I spent much of last season under the DXDT tent while coaching Ross Chouest and was very impressed by their drive, competence and no-nonsense work ethic,” he said.
“This clean sheet of paper, start-from-scratch approach is what we are basing our new Driver Development Program around and I have to say as a driver and a coach, we have some very, very cool things in the pipeline.
“On the racing front I’m excited to get back into the PWC paddock – I’ve sprayed a lot of champagne there in the past and I’m thirsty as ever!”
The team will announce its plans for 2017 programs in Super Trofeo and additional details on its PWC effort at a later date.
