Bruni Snares Pole for Porsche at Lime Rock

Gimmi Bruni made his presence known by scoring pole position for the Northeast Grand Prix in just his third race with Porsche in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship.

In the first qualifying session of his career with Porsche, Bruni outdueled Ford Chip Ganassi Racing’s Richard Westbrook and his own teammate Dirk Werner, all of whom swapped the provisional pole several times in the final minutes of the session.

It is the first pole position for the No. 912 entry this season.

Westbrook and Werner had to settle for second and third, while John Edwards locked down the outside of the second row for BMW Team RLL in the No. 24 BMW M6 GTLM.

Tommy Milner put the No. 4 Corvette Racing in the fifth starting spot, just ahead of his teammate Jan Magnussen.

Madison Snow followed up his strong showing in Practice 2 by securing the GT Daytona pole position in the No. 48 Lamborghini Huracan GT3 for Paul Miller Racing.

Colin Braun will start second in the No. 54 CORE autosport Porsche 911 GT3, the best qualifying performance for the team so far this season.

Patrick Long earned the third starting position for Alegra Motorsports in the No. 28 Porsche in his first appearance with the team and just his second WeatherTech Championship start this year.

Jack Hawksworth in the No. 15 3GT Racing Lexus RC F GT3 and Jens Klingmann in the No. 96 Turner Motorsports BMW M6 GT3 completed the top five, with Patrick Lindsey in sixth in the repaired Park Place Motorsports Porsche.

The pair of 15-minute qualifying sessions ran without major incident.

The Northeast Grand Prix is scheduled for tomorrow afternoon at 3 p.m. ET with live coverage on Fox Sports 2.
