Ginetta LMP1 Car Completes Rollout

Ginetta’s new LMP1 contender has completed an initial rollout, ahead of an “intensive” test and development program for its debut in the FIA World Endurance Championship.

The Mecachrome-powered Ginetta G60-LT-P1 undertook several straight-line runs Friday at Leeds East Airport in England with factory driver Mike Simpson at the wheel.

The test saw Ginetta’s design, test and development teams in attendance together with representatives of its first customer team, TRS Manor.

“It was a proud moment for all of us, seeing the G60-LT-P1 powering up and down the runway,” said Ginetta technical director Ewan Baldry.

“We are delighted that the car’s first run went without any problems, the systems performed perfectly and we can now move on to the next stage, fine-tuning the package in an intensive test program as we develop the G60-LT-P1.”

The car was launched earlier this month at the Autosport International Show in Birmingham.

“The reception for the car at its launch was phenomenal, and with testing now underway interest in the car, its performance and potential is only going to increase,” Baldry added. “We’re very excited by what lies ahead for our customers.”

TRS Manor has confirmed it will field at least one Ginetta-Mecachrome in the 2018/19 WEC ‘Super Season’ while evaluating a potential second entry, according to sporting director Graeme Lowdon.
