Las Vegas Motor Speedway has been confirmed as the season-ending round for the this year’s Blancpain GT World Challenge America and Pirelli GT4 America rounds.

The announcement came on Friday during SRO Motorsport Group’s annual press conference at Spa-Francorchamps, which also saw the unveil of the initial 2020 schedules.

As expected, the Oct. 19-20 event will be run on a combination oval-road course circuit, in a newly homologated layout that’s similar to the design utilized by the American Le Mans Series from 1999-2000.

The bumper weekend will also include the season finale for TC America as well as SRO’s worldwide gala, which will be held at the Bellagio on Sunday evening.

Sportscar365 understands the lengthy delay in official confirmation was contract-related, although the event, which has been in the works for more than a year, was never in jeopardy.

Exact details of the track configuration were not released pending a final FIA homologation, but SRO Motorsports America President and CEO Greg Gill indicated it would be similar layout to the one ALMS used in 1999 and 2000.

“We’ll have that information once the FIA releases it,” Gill told Sportscar365. “It’s been submitted to them so when they come out with it then we’ll share it with everyone.

“It is going to be a good combination of the inside road course that has traditionally been used by Dream Racing but in a proper FIA-spec course, but then using part of the oval.”
