Manthey Racing has lost its second-place finish in last month’s Nürburgring 24 to a post-race penalty communicated 13 days after the end of the race.
The No. 911 Porsche 911 GT3 R was driven by Laurens Vanthoor, Kevin Estre, Earl Bamber and Michael Christensen.
It led most of the race before Vanthoor was served a 5:32 penalty in the last couple of hours for a Full Course Yellow infringement, handing the lead to Audi Sport Team Phoenix.
The new penalty, communicated on Saturday morning, almost two weeks after the end of the race, concerns the car’s power output measured in post-race scrutineering.
The car was found to have exceeded the 494 hp (including 4 percent tolerance) limit stipulated in the Balance of Performance, with a similar result showing upon reexamination with a different measurement method.
It is not yet known if Manthey will choose to appeal the decision.
Provisionally, Mercedes-AMG Team Black Falcon is moved up to second place in the standings, followed by Audi Sport Team Car Collection in third.
