Ezequiel Perez Companc has launched his own team to compete in GT World Challenge Europe this year with a Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo in the Silver Cup.
The team, Madpanda Motorsport, is based in Barcelona and will receive support from QEV Tech, the company that is involved with the NIO333 Formula E team and previously supported Mahindra Racing’s operation in the electric series.
Perez Companc is the only confirmed driver so far but is set to be joined by other Silver-rated drivers for the full season, including both the Endurance and Sprint Cups.
The Argentinian, aged 25, raced for WRT last year after a couple of seasons with Grasser Racing Team, but will now take on the role of team principal at the new operation.
“I am really happy about this new challenge in my life,” said Perez Companc. “Many opportunities came together for 2020 that made this project possible and really exciting.
“We are not underestimating the challenge ahead but the support from QEV, the brand-new Evo version of the Mercedes-AMG GT3, and the new tire from Pirelli for this year will all help us reduce the gap to the other experienced teams straight away.
“We plan to do some proper testing ahead of the season and be well prepared for the first race at Monza. I am really looking forward to starting the racing.”
