Augusto Farfus and Chaz Mostert will join Walkenhorst Motorsport alongside Nicky Catsburg for next weekend’s Liqui-Moly Bathurst 12 Hour, driving the field’s only BMW M6 GT3.
Catsburg competed in the full Intercontinental GT Challenge powered by Pirelli season with Walkenhorst last year while Farfus and Mostert both drove for BMW Team Schnitzer; the Brazilian for a full season and the Australian at two races.
Walkenhorst’s lineup for this season’s IGTC season opener was confirmed on the latest version of the entry list, released on Friday.
The German team was initially set to run two BMWs but has pulled one of its cars, leaving its remaining entry as BMW’s only representative in the GT3 ranks.
Team Schnitzer won’t return to the globe-trotting series this year, after being realigned onto development of the M4 GT3 for 2022.
It’s understood that BMW is likely to return for a second season as a registered IGTC manufacturer, but the list of manufacturers entered is yet to be communicated.
