Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus has set out a timeline for its FIA World Endurance Championship Le Mans Hypercar entry and expects to be on track “by this September”.

The American automaker has been developing its 007 Le Mans Hypercar over the last 18 months and recently issued an updated set of render images along with details of the race program.

Glickenhaus reports that it has completed preliminary wind tunnel studies of the car, which is being designed by Podium Advanced Technologies in Italy.

It will begin wind tunnel testing this month and expects the car’s engineering to be completed by June before subsystem assembly gets underway in July.

The 007 will then be built in August ahead of the first shakedown, although company founder Jim Glickenhaus told Sportscar365 that it’s currently unclear if the first track test will take place in time for SCG to compete in the 2020-21 WEC season-opener on Sep. 5.

“With all of the rules changes our schedule had been pushed around,” he said. “We can race this car for five years so we want to get it fully developed before we race in anger.”

The team principal of the 007 race program will be Luca Ciancetti, who is also in charge of automotive and motorsport engineering at Podium.

He and the rest of the management will be supported by a team of engineers, many of whom have previous experience in Formula 1 and other high-profile series.

They include Mark Tatham who is the 007 project’s chief engineer, Chris Hornby (engine), Barry Harvey (chassis), Mick Lindley (suspension) and Massimiliano Turco (electronics).

SCG has confirmed a price of €2 million ($2.1 million US) for the 007, which will be powered by a three-liter TT V6 engine branded as a Glickenhaus unit.

In addition to its Hypercar, the company is also developing the Podium-designed 004C racer which is set to compete in the NLS series and the Nürburgring 24 this year.
