IMSA has moved the six-hour WeatherTech SportsCar Championship race at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta to Sat. Sept. 5 instead of the initially planned Sunday event.

Confirmed in the release of the provisional event schedule, the Grand Prix at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta will take place from 11:45 a.m. to 5:45 p.m. ET., with the four-hour Michelin Pilot Challenge round set to be held on Sun. Sept. 6.

This is believed to have been made due to noise ordinances at the track that prohibit racing from 10 a.m. to noon on Sundays.

As a result, WeatherTech Championship teams will now unload on Thurs. Sept. 3 ahead of two practice sessions and qualifying on Friday, followed by the return of warmup on Saturday morning.

The event, which replaces Watkins Glen on the schedule, will also include Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge USA by Yokohama and Lamborghini Super Trofeo.

Fans are expected to attend the weekend, with tickets on sale through Road Atlanta’s website.
