CarGuy, Luzich Firm Up Le Mans Plans

CarGuy Racing will make its second consecutive start in the 24 Hours of Le Mans, having confirmed a partnership with MR Racing for the French endurance classic.

The Japanese team, which made its debut last year with Kei Cozzolino, Takeshi Kimura and Come Ledogar in an AF Corse-run Ferrari 488 GTE, will essentially take over MR’s FIA World Endurance Championship entry, which was absent from last weekend’s Total 6 Hours of Spa.

Cozzolino and Kimura are so far the only two confirmed drivers but a team statement indicated that the lineup will be completed by another Japanese driver currently competing in Super Formula and Super GT.

The effort will be “fully operated” by AF Corse, which has been the team behind MR Racing’s effort in the 2019-20 WEC season.

The Ferrari was withdrawn from Spa due to Bronze-rated driver Motoaki Ishikawa electing not to make the trip to Belgium.

Negri Set for Le Mans Return in Luzich Ferrari

Come Ledogar, who was due to be MR’s third driver at Spa, meanwhile, has been confirmed in Luzich Racing’s Ferrari for Le Mans.

The former McLaren factory driver will team up with IMSA veteran Ozz Negri and Francesco Piovanetti in the No. 61 Ferrari, which will run under the U.S. flag.

As is the case with the CarGuy/MR effort, the Luzich Ferrari will be operated by AF Corse.

It will mark Negri’s second Le Mans start after having been part of Michael Shank Racing’s LMP2 effort in 2016, and more recently, the Road to Le Mans race with Piovanetti last year.
