Manthey Racing has unveiled a special livery for its “Grello” Porsche 911 GT3 R Evo for this weekend’s Nürburgring 24, celebrating both the 30th anniversary of the team and tenth year of the iconic livery.
The German squad, which is tied with Phoenix Racing with the most overall victories in the race at seven, will field its No. 911 Porsche for the full-factory lineup of Kevin Estre, Ayhancan Guven, and Thomas Preining.
It will sport a design that incorporates elements “from historic vehicles, thus uniting the past, present, and future.”
Evolving from ‘Der Dicke’ which Manthey claimed four consecutive overall wins from 2006-9, the Porsche in its eye-catching yellow-green livery made its debut in 2016 during the six-hour race former VLN race and scored a win on debut.
The famous colors have not only been victorious on the Nordschleife, but also in DTM, as well as iconic races such as the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring and Meguiar’s Bathurst 12 Hour.
“We are delighted to be celebrating both Manthey’s 30th anniversary and the 10th anniversary of ‘Grello’ this year,” said the team’s managing director Nicolas Raeder.
“Both represent a success story that Olaf Manthey laid the foundation for and that we are privileged to continue today – now on the international stage as well.
“The special livery we’ll be racing with at the 24h Nürburgring honors this evolution and also highlights the connection between the past, present, and future.
“I hope our fans will enjoy the design as well. Just like our long-standing partners and our employees, they are an integral part of the history of the car and the entire company.”
Manthey director of racing Patrick Arkenau added: “The ‘Grello’ made its debut on this track ten years ago, and following the cancellation due to the pandemic, this will be the eighth time we’ve competed in the 24-hour race with this distinctive livery.
“Especially after our two second-place finishes in 2024 and 2025, our sporting goal is clear: we want to finally be back on top. We’re looking forward to the race week with our fans and partners and hope for an exciting event.”
