Charlie Wurz will make his prototype racing debut in this winter’s Asian Le Mans Series driving an Oreca 07 Gibson for Algarve Pro Racing alongside Jens Reno Moller and Theodor Jensen.
Wurz, son of two-time 24 Hours of Le Mans winner Alex, has been competing in Super Formula this season but has also made a couple of SUPER GT appearances at the wheel a Lexus LC 500h GT in the GT300 class.
The 20-year-old had previously risen up the European single-seater ladder before spending 2024 and 2025 in FIA Formula 3.
Wurz will now join the LMP2 ranks in the Asian LMS and will partner Jensen, who was among the youngest-ever Le Mans lineup this year with CLX Motorsport, and Moller — a race winner in the European Le Mans Series LMP2 Pro-Am division this season with Vector Sport.
“APR has an incredible track record in LMP2, and I’m looking forward to learning all I can from them and doing my best with this new challenge,” said Wurz.
“As a long-time fan of endurance racing, I’m super pumped to get on track next week.”
Algarve Pro Racing team principal, Stewart Cox, added: “We love winning at Algarve Pro Racing, and we love bringing new faces to the team and helping them to find their best possible form very quickly.
“This trio has huge potential, and we expect them to be competitive from the start of the season, and to improve further from there.
“If they can do that, then I hope that they can make a full contribution to another championship win for the team.”
APR had previously announced that its ELMS LMP2 Pro-Am title-winning trio of Malthe Jakobsen, Enzo Trulli and Michael Jensen will all continue with the squad in Asian LMS.
The season is due to get under way at Paul Ricard on Nov. 14-15.
