Kingsley Joins Compass for Remaining Sprint Cup Races

Compass Racing has confirmed that Jeff Kingsley will join Paul Holton in the team’s GT Daytona driver lineup at the two remaining IMSA WeatherTech Sprint Cup races.

Kingsley, who is the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge USA by Yokohama points leader, is set for his top-level IMSA series debut in the No. 76 McLaren 720S GT3.

The 22-year-old Canadian is subbing for Corey Fergus, whose wife is expecting the couple’s first child in the coming weeks.

The remaining GTD Sprint Cup rounds of the season are being held at Charlotte Motor Speedway on Oct. 10 and WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca on Nov. 1.

“Whilst we’re going to miss Corey, the team is fully behind his decision to sit out the last two races,” said Compass Racing team owner Jill Beck.

“At the same time, we are so pleased to welcome Jeff as Paul’s co-driver. We’ve talked with him a lot over the past few years and are glad that he’s going to be part of the Compass Racing family.”

Fergus added: “When we started the season, the Sprint Cup would have been finished by October and there wouldn’t have been a conflict.

“With the schedule as it now stands, I’d likely end up missing the birth of my daughter, which I’d loathe to do.

“I’m thankful to the team for finding a worthy replacement in Jeff.”

Kingsley has won six races in his so-far successful Porsche single-make campaign with Kelly-Moss Road and Race.

The Toronto-based driver also has experience in the Canadian Touring Car Championship and Canada’s version of the GT3 Cup Challenge by Yokohama.

“I’m really excited to co-drive the Compass GTD McLaren with Paul,” said Kingsley.

“Corey had two pole positions this year. I know I’ve got big shoes to fill and am thrilled for the opportunity to race at the top level of sports car racing in America.

“McLaren is a great brand, Compass is a proven championship winner and the Sprint Cup is an incredibly competitive series.”
