The No. 7 K-PAX Racing Bentley Continental GT3 has been stripped of its front-row start for tomorrow’s Indianapolis 8 Hour following a technical infringement found in post-Pole Shootout scrutineering.

Intercontinental GT Challenge powered by Pirelli championship leader Jules Gounon initially set the second quickest time of Saturday evening’s session to set the top grid positions.

However, stewards have imposed a ten-position grid penalty, to be applied to the Pole Shootout results, due to an improperly positioned GPS device.

It will move the Gounon, Jordan Pepper and Maxime Martin-driven Bentley to a 10th place starting position.

According to Stewards Decision No. GT-12, the Darren Law-led K-PAX team had been “previously counseled” regarding the proper installation of the equipment, with the requirements “clearly spelled out” in the sporting regulations.

The ruling will elevate the No. 30 JAS Motorsport Acura NSX GT3 Evo to second on the grid for tomorrow’s 10 a.m. EDT start.

The No. 34 Walkenhorst BMW M6 GT3 of Connor De Phillippi scored pole for the second round of the IGTC season, marking BMW’s first top qualifying effort since Suzuka last year.
