Race-Leading K-PAX Bentley Drops Out After Incident

The race-leading No. 7 K-PAX Racing Bentley Continental GT3 has dropped out of contention for victory in the Indianapolis 8 Hour following an incident involving a GT4 car in the third hour.

Jordan Pepper, who had enjoyed a 50-plus second lead at the time, came together with the No. 3 Motorsport USA McLaren 570S GT4 of Dan Rogers, damaging the Bentley’s right-rear suspension.

It led to a dramatic spin by the South African on the back-straight before coming to rest on track, which has brought out the race’s third safety car period.

Pepper, who made an impressive start on slick tires, currently leads the Intercontinental GT Challenge powered by Pirelli points standings with co-drivers Maxime Soulet and Jules Gounon.

The incident has handed the pair of Walkenhorst BMW M6 GT3s the lead of the race, in drying conditions, with Connor De Philippi ahead of Nick Yelloly.
