Brandon Gdovic paced Friday’s opening day of Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America action at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca.
The PPM driver reeled off a best time of 1:24.568 in the second and final practice session of the day to go quickest.
Gdovic, in the No. 46 Lamborghini Huracan Super Trofeo Evo, edged out the No. 13 ANSA Motorsports entry of Sergio Jimenez by 0.440 seconds.
Pro class championship leader Madison Snow was third quickest in the No. 16 Change Racing Lamborghini ahead of the No. 1 Prestige Performance/Wayne Taylor Racing entry of Stuart Middleton.
The top four times were all set in Practice 2, with Andrea Amici’s 1:25.845 having topped the time charts overall in opening practice.
Amici’s No. 25 Prestige/WTR Lamborghini ended the day quickest of the Pro-Am competitors, although ANSA’s Danny Formal posted the fastest time in class in the afternoon session.
The No. 6 US RaceTronics Lamborghini of Steven Aghakhani and Jacob Eidson, which was second overall in Practice 1, ended up further down the combined time sheets on Friday.
Eidson was credited with the car’s quickest time, ending up in 9th overall.
Victor Gomez paced the Am class in his No. 29 Change Racing Lamborghini, thanks to a 1:26.843 lap time in Practice 2 while LB Cup debutant Trevor Andrusko was quickest in class, with his Practice 1 time holding up.
No major incidents were reported in either 40-minute session.
Qualifying is set for a 10:10 a.m. PT start on Saturday followed by the first race of the weekend at 1:40 p.m., with live coverage on IMSA.tv and IMSA Radio.
