Marco Andretti Tests Andretti Autosports’ LMP3 Car

Marco Andretti climbed back behind the wheel of a prototype for the first time in nearly a decade on Tuesday at Sebring International Raceway, turning laps in Andretti Autosport’s Ligier JS P320 Nissan.

The third-generation IndyCar star took part in the team’s test with the LMP3 car it is currently utilizing in IMSA Prototype Challenge with Tristan Herbert and Marco’s cousin, Jarett.

Marco, who has stood down from full-time IndyCar competition this year, previously revealed ambitions of racing in IMSA in the future.

While not being eligible in IPC due to his Gold driver rating, Marco could theoretically team up with Silver-rated Jarett in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship LMP3 class, which permits Gold drivers paired with Silvers who are under the age of 30.

Andretti’s last sports car racing outing came in the 2012 Rolex 24 at Daytona in a Starworks Motorsport Riley-Ford DP.
