Kay van Berlo has signed with Kelly-Moss Road and Race for the inaugural Porsche Carrera Cup North America season.

Both team and driver will be in partnership with the Racing for Children’s initiative, working to bring awareness “to the need for continued research for cures for children from the many childhood diseases”.

Dutchman van Berlo will represent the Children’s Hospital of Alabama and Medical Properties Trust, two organizations working to cure childhood cancer.

This year marks the fifth in a row that the Kelly-Moss outfit has supported the two organizations.

Van Berlo, who has won races at LMP3 level in the European and Asian Le Mans Series, arrives in the single-make series fresh out of Porsche Carrera Cup Germany where he competed for Nebulus Racing by Huber before moving to the United States in August.

The 20-year old tested with his new squad, Kelly-Moss, at Sebring International Raceway recently and also spent time at the team base in Wisconsin.

Van Berlo is the second driver to sign with Kelly-Moss for the first season of Porsche Carrera Cup NA after Sebastian Priaulx was confirmed at the team earlier this month.

“This is an excellent step to continue my racing career,” said van Berlo.

“After a successful test with the team at Sebring, I was convinced that Kelly-Moss is the right team to start the next chapter in my racing career.

“We took delivery of five brand new Porsche GT3 Cup cars (992 version), and I must admit, I’m impressed by the team’s approach to this new machine.

“I cannot wait to start working with this group of passionate and talented people during the official test at Sebring on March 8-9.”

The opening round of Carrera Cup NA takes place at Sebring from Mar. 17-20.
