Group-A Confirms Jenks, Fedler in Pro 1500

Group-A Racing has confirmed Max Fedler and Steve Jenks for its two-car squad in Blue Marble Radical Cup North America competition this year.

Fedler, 20, joins the Radical New York-backed team and will drive the No. 5 Summit of Everest Group/Plenco/SciLogica Corp/Group-A Racing/Radical New York SR3 in the Pro 1500 class.

Jenks, meanwhile, will return to the wheel of the No. 68 Audien Hearing Aids/CleanLife Products/Group-A Racing/Radical New York SR3 also in the Pro 1500 category.

Jenks and Group-A Racing joined forces last year in a last-minute deal that turned into Jenks becoming a consistent podium finisher.

He ended up just a few points short of winning the Pro 1500 class championship title.

“Last year was such a massive success for us, especially since we were all rookies to these cars, series, and how late we got the first car said team manager Jonathan Scarallo.

“I love having Steve in one of our cars. He’s one of the most serious and intense drivers I’ve had the privilege of working with.

“With the two of us being so similar in that, it was a big key for us having the success we did in 2020. We have taken that same mindset and commitment into this winter hoping to propel to a championship in 2021.”

Jenks added: “Our engineer Lenny Tumenas worked hard during the winter to refine our setup approach based on a year of learning and I can feel a difference in the car during preseason testing.”

Fedler got his start in karting before making the transition to cars with a BMW M235iR touring car in 2017, where he won the T1 class in the SCCA June Sprints.

He is also a two-time 24-hour race winner, including claiming top class honors in Creventic’s 24H COTA with Classic BMW.

“I look forward to getting down to business and hopping in the seat,” he said.

“My goal is to learn quickly and win races against an excellent field of experienced racers.”

Scarallo added: “I met Max for the first time at SKUSA SuperNats karting event in November 2015. Over the last 5 1/2 years I have always stayed in touch as he continued to race karts, made the transition to cars etc.

“It’s great to finally be able to put something together here for him to join us in the tremendous series that is growing by the day.”

The Blue Marble Radical Cup kicks off at Barber Motorsports Park this weekend.
