Dalton Sargeant became a young newcomer to watch in Cooper Tires Prototype Lites Powered by Mazda after leading testing Feb. 24-25 with a top lap of 1:59.251 in an 8Star Motorsports entry at Sebring International Raceway.

2011 Rotax Max Challenge United States Grand Nationals karting champion Sargeant, 15, turned his top lap – the only sub-two-minute circuit of the test – in the late afternoon Tuesday, Feb. 25. Coaching from TUDOR United SportsCar Championship standout Ozz Negri helped Sargeant’s rapid climb atop the speed chart.

The No. 10 entry of JDC Motorsports was second quickest overall at 2:00.175, with the No. 27 of 2013 Team Champions Performance Tech third at 2:00.298. Twenty-three cars turned laps to prepare for the first two rounds of the season March 13-14 during the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring Fueled by Fresh From Florida at Sebring.

In the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge USA by Yokohama testing, it was the No. 6 Kelly Moss Motorsports entry that topped the charts with a 2:05.310.

Kelly-Moss put four of its cars into the top eight on the speed charts during the test, while rivals Wright Motorsports placed three cars into the top seven. Wright’s No. 16 entry was second quickest overall at 2:05.488.

Thirty Porsche 911 GT3 Cup cars from the USA and Canada series turned laps at the test, on track simultaneously with Lamborghini Super Trofeo cars in an interesting wrinkle.

The 2014 season for both championships opens with two rounds March 13-14 during the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring Fueled by Fresh from Florida at Sebring.
