Lawson Aschenbach was fastest in GS and overall during Wednesday’s two practice sessions for the Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge Microsoft Visual Studio 150 at Sebring International Raceway.
The driver of the No. 9 Stevenson Motorsports Chevrolet Camaro Z/28.R led the day with a best lap of 2:15.336 in the first of two 45-minute sessions. Teammate Matt Bell led the second session, albeit at a slower 2:16.771.
The second Stevenson Camaro, the No. 6 car driven by Andrew Davis and Robin Liddell, was second in the opening session and on the day at 2:15.730.
Daytona winners Rum Bum Racing, with Hugh and Matt Plumb in the No. 13 Porsche 911, were third at 2:16.190.
Next Level European kept the Porsche Cayman platform on the top of the ST field, with Seth Thomas leading the way at 2:24.441 in the opening session in the No. 38 Porsche. He’ll share the car with Daniel Rogers.
Christian Szymczak was second on the day in the No. 34 Alara Racing Mazda MX-5, one of only three MX-5s entered, at 2:24.590. Szymczak set his time in the second session and will share the car with Justin Piscitell, a late replacement for the originally scheduled Devin Jones.
The debuting No. 75 Compass360 Racing Audi S3 posted a best lap time of 2:28.236 with the No. 37 LAP Motorsports Mini JCW posting a best time of 2:29.988, both in the second session.
Daytona ST winners Rennsport One fought through engine issues with its No. 17 Porsche Cayman, driven by Spencer Pumpelly and Luis Rodriguez Jr., and didn’t turn a lap in either session.
Continental Tire Challenge is next out on track for qualifying, which runs from 12:30-12:45 p.m. for ST and 1-1:15 p.m. for G.S.
