Hindman Leads Opening Sebring Practice

Trent Hindman set the pace in opening practice for the second round of the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge at Sebring International Raceway.

Hindman steered the No. 28 RS1 Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport, which he shares with Stevan McAleer, to a best lap of 2:10.296.

In the process, he outpaced Michael de Quesada’s No. 69 Motorsports In Action McLaren Artura GT4 by 0.318 seconds, with Matt Plumb third behind the wheel of the No. 46 Team TGM Aston Martin Vantage GT4.

Michael Cooper picked up fourth aboard the No. 44 Baby Bull Racing Porsche, ahead of BGB Motorsports driver Spencer Pumpelly.

The No. 38 Porsche had an early exit from the session after stopping at Turn 13 at Tower after 20 minutes. It did not rejoin and only completed eight laps.

Robin Liddell slotted into sixth in the No. 64 Team TGM Aston Martin, ahead of Winward Racing’s Daniel Morad and the No. 59 KohR Motorsports Ford Mustang GT4 of Luca Mars.

Chad Gilsinger led the way in TCR by reeling off a 2:18.169 aboard the No. 89 HART Honda Civic FK7 TCR, 0.102 seconds clear of the Harry Gottsacker-driven No. 33 Bryan Herta Autosport Hyundai Elantra N TCR.

Track action for the Michelin Pilot Challenge continues with second practice on Thursday at 8 a.m. EDT.
