Devin Jones has escaped serious injury following an accident at Virginia International Raceway that sent the BimmerWorld driver to the hospital.

Jones’ No. 82 BMW M4 GT4 went off into Turn 1 in the second practice session of the weekend for Sunday’s Virginia is for Lovers Grand Prix IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge race, making impact with the barriers and reportedly ending up deep in a wooded area.

An initial medical update from IMSA confirmed that the 25-year-old was “fully conscious and responding appropriately” while BimmerWorld released a further update Saturday afternoon stating that Jones has no reports of any critical injuries.

“He is sore, but alert and in good hands,” the statement read. “[The] reason for the accident has not been determined at this time and our main focus is on Devin, his health, and a quick recovery.”

The No. 82 BMW has been withdrawn from tomorrow’s race.
