McAlister on Pole For BMW M Endurance Challenge

CarBahn with Peregrine Racing driver Sean McAlister secured pole position in qualifying for the BMW M Endurance Challenge at Daytona.

McAlister, who shares the No. 39 BMW M4 GT4 with Jeff Westphal for the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge season opener, clocked off a lap of 1:52.842 to take pole by 0.803 seconds over Owen Trinkler.

Trinkler’s No. 46 Team TGM Aston Martin Vantage GT4 narrowly out-qualified the Jack Hawksworth-driven No. 50 Hattori Motorsports Toyota GR Supra GT4 Evo by 0.070 seconds to complete the front row.

Jesse Lazare picked up fourth at the wheel of the No. 69 Motorsports in Action McLaren Artura GT4, with the top five rounded out by Francis Seldorff’s No. 96 Turner Motorsport BMW.

In TCR, Harry Gottsacker beat Karl Wittmer to give Hyundai its first pole position of the season.

Gottsacker steered the No. 33 Bryan Herta Autosport Hyundai Elantra N TCR, which he shares with Robert Wickens, to a best lap of 1:56.757.

That put him 0.299 seconds ahead of Wittmer’s No. 93 Montreal Motorsport Group Honda Civic FL5, while Eduardo Gou completed the top three at the wheel of the No. 55 Gou Racing Audi RS3 LMS TCR.

The BMW M Endurance Challenge at Daytona kicks off Friday at 1:45 p.m. ET.
