Gabriele Piana impressed in his first IMSA Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge outing, topping the combined time charts in the No. 21 Muehlner Motorsports America Porsche Cayman GT4 Clubsport.

Piana’s fast time came of 2:35.841 came in the first of two practice sessions on Friday in a day which saw difficult, wet conditions in both hour-long practices.

Chris Green’s last flying lap in Practice 2 put the No. 69 Motorsports In Action McLaren 570S GT4 in second overall for the day, narrowly topping Matt Bell in the Stevenson Motorsports Chevrolet Camaro GT4.R.

Guy Cosmo set the fourth fastest mark in Practice 1, but his Practice 2 crash has sidelined the No. 4 Porsche Cayman GT4 Clubsport MR the he was due to share with Hugh Plumb for the rest of the weekend.

Andrew Carbonell was the fastest of the ST runners, turning in the best lap in class in Practice 2 of the day behind the wheel of the No. 26 Freedom Autosport Mazda MX-5.

Bodymotion Racing’s Drake Kemper and Murillo Racing’s Jeff Mosing were second and third in a pair of Porsche Caymans, and also set their fastest lap in the afternoon session.

Practice 3 for Continental Tire Challenge is scheduled for 10:15 a.m. CT, leading directly into qualifying for Saturday’s Road America 120. The green flag for the race is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. CT.
