C360R led the way in the opening Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge practice for Saturday’s Continental Tire 120 at Watkins Glen, sweeping two of the top three spots in the session.

Matt Plumb reeled off a quick lap of 1:58.139 in his No. 76 McLaren 570S GT4 to go quickest in the one-hour session on Thursday afternoon.

Plumb edged out the No. 12 Bodymotion Racing Porsche Cayman GT4 Clubsport of reigning race winner Trent Hindman by 0.665 seconds, with C360R’s sister No. 77 McLaren third on the time sheets.

The No. 4 Team TGM Porsche Cayman GT4 Clubsport MR of Hugh Plumb was fourth, with the No. 68 Motorsports In Action McLaren making it three of the British-built cars in the top-five in GS.

The ST class was led by the No. 73 MINI JCW of Devin Jones and Mat Pombo, despite brake fires plaguing the cars over the course of the session.

Pombo edged out the No. 25 Freedom Autosport Maazda MX-5 of Stevan McAleer by 0.569 seconds, with Eric Foss making it three different manufacturers in the top-three in class in the No. 56 Murillo Racing Porsche Cayman.

The session was halted by one red flag, for an accident by Britt Casey Jr. in the No. 27 Freedom Mazda.

Practice 2 gets underway Friday at 8 a.m. ET, with a third practice session on tap for later in the day.
