Mat Pombo has claimed pole for tomorrow’s Lime Rock Park 100, putting LA Honda World Racing on top for the Michelin Pilot Challenge TCR-only race.

Pombo took his No. 37 Honda Civic Type R TCR to a best lap of 53.294 seconds, edging out the No. 98 Bryan Herta Autosport Hyundai Elantra N TCR of Mark Wilkins by 0.150 seconds.

It marked Pombo’s fifth Pilot Challenge pole out of six races this season and came in a new qualifying track record that beat last year’s GS qualifying lap time.

Pombo will share the Type-FL5 Honda with Ryan Eversley in the 100-minute sprint race.

Bryan Ortiz will start third in the No. 91 van der Steur Racing Hyundai, followed by Robert Wickens and Michael Lewis, who completed the top-five in BHA Hyundais.

The No. 17 Unitronic/JDC-Miller Motorsports Audi RS 3 LMS TCR of Chris Miller will start sixth, ahead of Luca Mars’ Hyundai Veloster N TCR and the Victor Gonzalez-driven Honda in eighth.

A total of 14 cars are set for the Lime Rock Park 100, which gets underway Saturday at 4:15 p.m. EDT with live coverage on Peacock and IMSA Radio.
