***Rum Bum Racing goes for its third Road America win in a row today, having won the last two CTSC races here under GRAND-AM sanction. The race also serves as the team’s “second home race;” Luis Bacardi’s wife Jennifer hails from Wisconsin and an extra contingent of family, friends and supporters are at the track.
***Compass360 Racing’s No. 74 Honda Civic Si of Katherine Legge and James Vance did not set a qualifying time due to an engine change, which required the pair to start from the rear of the field.
***Darren Law joins the CKS Autosport lineup this weekend, in the No. 00 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28.R alongside Ashley McCalmont. Law’s only prior race appearance this year was the Rolex 24 at Daytona, which he didn’t even get to drive for GAINSCO/Bob Stallings Racing due to Memo Gidley’s savage accident.
***Peter Cunningham returns to the HART ST squad this weekend for the first time in several years, sharing the No. 92 Honda Civic Si with Kevin Boehm. It’s a home race for Cunningham, who lives in Milwaukee and whose RealTime Racing shop is located in nearby Saukville, Wis.
***Trans-Am regular Cameron Lawrence makes his first start in the No. 95 Irish Mike’s Racing Hyundai Genesis coupe (ST) alongside Charles Espenlaub, who has also driven for Automatic Racing (GS) and Rebel Rock Racing (ST) in Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge this season.
***The No. 87 Rebel Rock Racing Porsche Cayman ST lineup of Jon Miller and Paul Holton this weekend is the car’s sixth different driver pairing in seven races since the car’s debut at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca in May.
***Fall-Line Motorsports’ third car is back in action for the first time since Sebring. Team principal Mark Boden and Jack Kachadurian share the No. 47 BMW M3, which joins the points leading No. 46 (John Edwards, Trent Hindman) and No. 48 (Shelby Blackstock, Andrew Longe) at the Chicago-based team’s de facto home race.
***Several CTSC drivers raced at the World Challenge event at Road America earlier this season. Those include Mark Wilkins, Lawson Aschenbach, Steven Doherty, Bryan Heitkotter, Jon Miller and Paul Holton. Additionally Andrew Palmer and Mark Klenin, also in action here in June, will be in Sunday’s TUDOR Championship race.
