Spencer Pumpelly set the fastest overall time across the three days of Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge Roar Before the 24 testing for RS1.

Although defending GS class champion Dillon Machavern was the designated driver for the car, it was Pumpelly who set the mark of 1:55.247 in the second practice session of the weekend in the No. 28 Porsche Cayman GT4 MR.

The RS1 team only ran Friday and Saturday, electing to skip Sunday’s available testing time after completing its testing plans.

Kyle Marcelli impressed by setting the second fastest time in the No. 60 KohR Motorsports Ford Mustang GT4, just ahead of Trent Hindman in the No. 7 Volt Racing Mustang.

The new-for-2018 TCR class was headed up by the Compass Racing duo of Rodrigo Sales and Pierre Kleinubing in the Nos. 74 and 75 Audi RS3 LMS TCR, respectively.

Justin Piscitell was third for Murillo Racing, also in an Audi.

Mat Pombo paced the five-car ST field in his No. 37 MINI JCW Team MINI, followed by the No. 81 BimmerWorld Racing BMW 328i of Nick Galante and Mark Pombo in the No. 37 MINI.

The weekend was marred by a heavy accident for the No. 54 JDC-Miller MotorSports Audi TCR of Michael Johnson, who was transported to a local hospital for evaluation.

A further update on Johnson’s condition is expected to be released on Monday.

The BMW Endurance Challenge will open the Continental Tire Challenge season on Friday, Jan. 26.
