Stacy Scores Pole for Race 1 at Mid-Ohio

Nate Stacy has scored pole for this afternoon’s IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge race at Mid-Ohio, in the first of a doubleheader weekend for series competitors.

The KohR Motorsports driver took his No. 60 Aston Martin Vantage GT4 to a best lap of 1:27.453 for his second consecutive pole position.

Stacy edged out defending GS class champion Tyler McQuarrie, in the No. 39 CarBahn Motorsports Audi R8 LMS GT4, by 0.525 seconds in a duel between the two drivers late the 15-minute session.

McQuarrie initially jumped to the top of the time sheets with a 1:27.978 with Stacy improving on his final flying lap.

Stacy will share driving duties in the pair of two-hour races with Kyle Marcelli, who topped Friday’s timesheets. 

The No. 4 Winward Racing Mercedes-AMG GT4 of Russell Ward will start third in Race 1 followed by the Jeff Mosing-driven No. 56 Murillo Racing Mercedes GT4 in fourth.

Scott Maxwell completed the top-five in his Multimatic Motorsports Ford Mustang GT4, meanwhile.

Max Faulkner claimed TCR pole honors, with his FASTMD by Speed Syndicate Audi RS 3 LMS TCR outpacing defending class champion Michael Lewis by nearly 1.2 seconds.

It comes amid the introduction of compensation weight this weekend that has severely hampered the Hyundai Veloster N TCRs, which are carrying 60 kg of additional ballast.

The No. 5 Alfa Romeo Giulietta TCR of Roy Block qualified third in class, ahead of Friday’s pace-setting No. 54 JDC-Miller Motorsports Audi TCR of Michael Johnson in fourth.

Race 1 gets underway at 1:05 p.m. EDT with live coverage on Trackpass on NBC Sports Gold and IMSA Radio.
