2016 WeatherTech SportsCar Schedule Released

IMSA has announced the schedule for the 2016 WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, which will again feature a 12-event overall season and no major changes to the calendar.

The schedule was announced on the same night WeatherTech takes over as entitlement sponsor for the championship, effective as of November 1, 2015.

The 2016 season sees 11 races for the Prototype Challenge, GT Le Mans and GT Daytona classes and ten events for the Prototype class.

The season will again kick off at Daytona International Speedway for the Rolex 24 in late January, followed by trips to Sebring, Long Beach, Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca and Detroit’s Belle Isle prior to the annual Le Mans break.

The Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen has been moved back one week, to accommodate teams returning from Le Mans, which results in back-to-back event with Canadian Tire Motorsport Park in July and features all four classes.

Lime Rock Park returns to the schedule for the second consecutive year, but with the addition of GT LM cars, with Road America, VIR, Circuit of The Americas and Petit Le Mans completing the schedule.
