IMSA on Thursday released the full season and Michelin Endurance Cup entry lists for the 2024 WeatherTech SportsCar Championship season, featuring a total of 48 cars that are set to take on the entire series next year across the four classes.

The list, announced during the annual ‘State of the Sport’ address, is comprised of ten GTP cars, 11 LMP2 entries, ten GTD Pro and 17 GTD machines for the full season, with additional cars entered for either the full Endurance Cup only or selected Endurance Cup races.

A capacity 57-car field for the Endurance Cup races, meanwhile, is expected, although there are currently only 53 cars entered for all five races.

The season-opening Rolex 24 at Daytona, meanwhile, will feature a 60-car capacity grid, with the full entry list, including driver names and car models, to be published on Nov. 14.

Following an entry submission process that began in August, the sanctioning body narrowed down the list after what’s understood to have been an oversubscribed field.

The full-season list marks nearly a 25 percent increase over the 2023 entry numbers.

While a reserve list was not released, Sportscar365 understands there are numerous teams on standby should any of the confirmed entries withdraw in the build-up to the event.

The entry features key additions to the grid, including Wayne Taylor Racing with Andretti Autosport’s expansion into a two-car effort in GTP, the expected arrival of Iron Lynx for a limited Endurance Cup campaign, United Autosports USA in LMP2, the factory Ford Multimatic Motorsports effort in GTD Pro alongside a pair of entries from the works-supported Corvette Racing by Pratt Miller Motorsports.

Among notable absences include WeatherTech Racing, only one Turner Motorsport BMW M4 GT3 and TDS Racing also scaling back from two to one entry in LMP2.

Further clarity is also needed on several entries, including WTR Andretti, which is represented in GTD.

“We continue to ride an amazing wave of momentum as evidenced by the number of teams and race cars that have committed to our 2024 WeatherTech Championship and Michelin Endurance Cup seasons,” said IMSA President John Doonan.

“To have this many teams confirmed for next year is a testament to the stability of the platform we have collectively built.

“Being able to make this announcement in October – even before our 2023 season has been completed – helps us carry that momentum into the offseason and enables IMSA fans to make their 2024 plans that much earlier.”
