Filipe Albuquerque led an Action Express Racing 1-2 in opening practice for this weekend’s Motul Petit Le Mans at Road Atlanta.
Albuquerque reeled off a best lap of 1:11.878 in the No. 5 Cadillac DPi-V.R, edging out a late session improvement by Felipe Nasr by 0.274 seconds.
The No. 31 Cadillac DPi completed limited laps in the 60-minute session due to a conservative start to the weekend for the Prototype points leaders.
Jordan Taylor put the No. 10 Wayne Taylor Racing Cadillac DPi third on the time charts, ahead of the No. 7 Team Penske Acura ARX-05 of Ricky Taylor in fourth.
The No. 77 Team Joest Mazda RT24-P of Oliver Jarvis completed the top-five with Colin Braun quickest of the LMP2 contenders in sixth.
Ford Chip Ganassi Racing Sweep in GT Le Mans
Dirk Mueller and Ryan Briscoe led a Ford Chip Ganassi Racing 1-2 sweep in GT Le Mans.
Mueller’s 1:18.343 lap was 0.038 seconds quicker than Briscoe, with the class championship-leading No. 3 Corvette C7.R of Antonio Garcia third on the time charts.
GT Daytona, meanwhile, was led by the No. 29 Montaplast by Land Motorsport Audi R8 LMS of Christopher Mies.
The session ended early after the No. 7 Penske Acura DPi of Simon Pagenaud ground to a halt on track with less than five minutes remaining.
It came after an early red for the No. 99 JDC/Miller Motorsports Oreca 07 Gibson of Stephen Simpson, who also stopped on track in Turn 5 but rejoined later in the session.
Practice 2 gets underway at 3:15 p.m. EDT, followed by night practice at 7:30 p.m.
