Acura Team Penske topped the second practice session for the Rolex 24 at Daytona as Porsche set the pace in the GT Le Mans class.

The Acura ARX-05 DPis took a while to climb the timing screens before Ricky Taylor put the No. 7 car to the top overall with 30 minutes to go and then improved on the next lap to a 1:34.904.

Taylor’s time proved quickest of the session in the car he shares with Helio Castroneves and Alexander Rossi, with the No.77 Mazda RT24-P of Oliver Jarvis 0.2 seconds behind in second.

Harry Tincknell’s early 1:35.430 lap time in the sister No. 55 Mazda DPi saw the car finish the session third, while Wayne Taylor Racing was the first of the Cadillac DPi-V.Rs in fourth, courtesy of Ryan Briscoe.

Action Express Racing’s No. 31 Cadillac DPi completed the overall top five with Filipe Albuquerque setting the lap.

Porsche GT Team was the benchmark in GTLM as the No. 912 Porsche 911 RSR of Laurens Vanthoor on a 1:42.799 lap time headed the No. 911 car of Nick Tandy.

The Chevrolet Corvette C8.Rs also ended the session in formation with Antonio Garcia in the No. 3 in front of Tommy Milner’s effort in the No. 4.

Jesse Krohn put BMW Team RLL fifth in the No. 24 BMW M8 GTE more than a second off the Porsches.

DragonSpeed paced the LMP2 field after Ben Hanley put the No. 81 Oreca 07 Gibson to the top ahead of Tower Motorsport by Starworks’ No. 8 entry and No. 52 PR1/Mathiasen Motorsports car.

Robby Foley helped Turner Motorsport to the top of the GTD class in its BMW M6 GT3, followed by the No. 9 Pfaff Motorsports Porsche 911 GT3 R and No. 11 Grasser Racing Team Lamborghini Huracan GT3.

The session started off mostly dry before it began to spit with rain in the closing stages, with the only red flag coming in the early running for debris.

Qualifying begins at 4:15 p.m. ET.
